Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
Krystal is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has been a nurse for 11 years working with individuals across the lifespan. After searching for a minority therapist in one of the local hospital systems and counting on one hand the providers she knew she wanted to make a difference. She believes in taking care of the whole body, mind, and spirit. Krystal works in collaboration with a physician to make sure she provides the best overall care for each individual. She brings a pretty smile, compassion, dignity of the individual, sense of humor, and respect to everyone. Her goal is to bring more awareness to minorities to prioritize their mental health just the same as their physical health. Krystal makes it a priority to advocate for her patients. She believes having an integrative service is best overall for each individual. She is trained in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. She has experience working with adolescent population, adult/geriatric population, public health, helping the homeless population with resources, training on Narcan administration, Fentanyl test strips training, and Xylazine test strips training. She advocates for her patients and provides essential tools to survive. She will be providing medication management, and educational training. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". ~Jeremiah 29:11
Choosing to complete higher education is not only stressful, it's confusing. It's the first time you're dipping your toe into adulthood, and having to navigate the world on your own for the first time. Your mental health is the most important thing to maintain while in school. I, too, had to have my own therapist throughout my 6 years of university, so don't think you're the only one. Depression, anxiety, relational issues, making friends, meeting deadlines for your homework: the list of struggles goes on and on. You don't have to hold it in and carry it alone. Let's work on making you the best version of yourself while you pursue carving out an amazing life for yourself.
If you are feeling angry and frustrated that you constantly pour from an empty cup and no one tries to return the favor, you are not alone. Most of us feel frustrated, unappreciated, and lonely at times. I'm here to help you move through the rough patches with better skills to cope for the next time. I help clients heal from the past, embrace change, and recognize their strengths. All of this help us to find our confidence again and enjoy better relationships personally and professionally. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches to therapy to clients grow through challenging seasons into confident people once again.
I truly believe that choosing to prioritize your own or your child’s mental health is one of the bravest and most meaningful decisions a person or parent can make. Whether you are reaching out for yourself at any stage of life or seeking support for your teenager, committing to healing and personal growth can feel overwhelming. Even finding the right therapist can feel like a daunting first hurdle. I am genuinely glad you are here and taking this step. Opening up to someone new is not easy. When beginning therapy for teens, it can feel especially intimidating to trust someone with their thoughts and emotions. For parents, it can be painful and confusing to watch your child struggle and not know how to “fix” it. Further, with adults of any age, it can be just as challenging to slow down, reflect, and allow yourself the space to be supported, or even to admit that you are struggling in the first place. I strive to create a confidential, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself, explore your experiences, and begin meaningful healing. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Concerns may include anxiety (such as generalized anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, or phobias), depression and mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD and executive functioning difficulties, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, OCD, and challenges related to life transitions. With teens specifically, I have a passion for supporting concerns such as school avoidance, academic pressure, peer relationships, bullying, identity exploration, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and family conflict. I also work with more complex concerns, including self-harm, suicidal thoughts, substance use, eating disorders, and behavioral challenges. For adults, therapy may focus on stress, burnout, relationship concerns, career or life transitions, parenting challenges, unresolved trauma, or patterns that are no longer serving you. Many adults also seek therapy to better understand themselves, improve emotional awareness, and create more meaningful, values-driven lives. I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis, where I also completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. My training included supervised clinical experiences across a variety of settings and ages, including private practice, residential treatment, a therapeutic day school, and juvenile justice systems. During my predoctoral internship, I received intensive training working with youth and families involved in complex systems of care, and collaborated closely with schools, probation, and child welfare agencies. My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities that are tailored to each individual’s specific needs. In our first sessions, we will discuss current difficulties, collaborate on goals, and determine the best approach for you or your child. My goal is to meet you where you are. For teens, this often means building trust at their own pace and helping them develop practical coping skills and emotional insight. For parents, it may involve collaboration, guidance, and tools to strengthen connection and communication at home. For adults, it may look like exploring patterns, building resilience, and working toward lasting, meaningful change. I am not what we psychologists call a “blank slate” therapist, and I will enthusiastically support you, celebrate you, and laugh with you, while also holding space for the difficult topics and why you came to therapy in the first place. No matter where you or your family are starting, you don’t have to navigate it alone. If you feel that I may be a good fit for you or your child, I welcome you to reach out.

You feel anxious and it’s hard to shut your brain off. People tell you to relax, but it’s not that easy for you. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, but it’s hard to sit back and enjoy it. Your standards for yourself feel too high, and you question how long you can keep this up. You tend to doubt yourself and your abilities and look to other people to reassure you. It’s hard to take up space, feel confident, and speak your truth. You want to feel present in your life and like you’re able to love and appreciate yourself just as you are. You want to feel confident, courageous, and like you are able to advocate for yourself. You want to feel happy, calm, and at peace with your life, your relationships, and your career. I specialize in working with young adults with anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism to build self-confidence and live a life they love. A better future is possible, and I'm here to help you create it. I can’t wait to hear from you, send me an email or call me to schedule a free phone consultation.
Let me be your guide to better understanding yourself and why you think, feel, and behave in the ways that you do. You know yourself better than anyone, but I can help you notice patterns that have been hidden or locked away. Whether experiencing anxiety, relationship concerns, or a low self-esteem, it is my hope to give you a soft space to land with genuine care and kindness. I’ve been a practitioner for 5 years specializing in anxiety, attachment wounds, inner child work, and sex & sexuality. I work with lots of different populations, but mostly work with femmes, trans and nonbinary folks, and the LGBTQ+ community. My goal as your therapist is for you to get to know yourself and others in a more attuned, empathetic, and compassionate way. In my personal time I love to read (expect a lot of book recommendations) and occasionally crochet. I love a good cup of coffee, practicing yoga, and connecting with the earth and nature through native gardening and hiking.
I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient facilities, supporting both individual clients and their families. I have worked with individuals who are managing ADHD, Autism, PTSD, OCD, symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, transition of life, academic needs, relationship challenges and changes, and managing stressors throughout life and more. My goal as a therapist is to help you work through your issues, address your inner needs, and achieve your goals. I help you focus on what is most important to you by providing you a safe space to explore, express and examine the areas of your life that have been causing you stress or discomfort. In my free time, I enjoy playing tabletop board games, traveling, reading mystery and true crime thrillers, and spending time with my family and my dogs. You can text, email or call me. You can contact me at 317-731-2257. I will be taking new clients at the start of the year. I am in transition from a group practice to a solo practice!
