I am now accepting insurance through Grow Therapy. Please use this link to schedule an appointment! https://provider.growtherapy.com/book-appointment?id=906&ref=prov Everyone can use an objective voice to help them work out whatever is going on in their lives. Sometimes relief can begin just by deciding that a little help won’t hurt. I graduated from Chestnut Hill College with my Master’s in Clinical and Counseling Psychology in 2008. I have the experience to help with the stress of today's world. This experience helps me understand and empathize with clients’ situations and so can offer real world help. I believe you to be an active participant in therapy, I am not here to tell you how to run your life. I am here to help you find your own path. I work with teens, adults, families and couples.
I use a traditional therapeutic modality (cognitive behavioral) in conjunction with a Mindfulness based approach. Clients learn to self regulate emotions as they learn to achieve their personal goals. Life will become more meaningful and fulfilling when the individual aligns with a purpose that feels authentic and valuable.
I support clients with anxiety, trauma reprocessing, family and relationship dynamics, and attachment/ inner child/ parts work. I enjoy helping clients "free themselves" from stuck parts or narratives, build self-confidence, heal childhood or relational wounds, and feel empowered in your own strengths instead of a "problem to fix." My approach draws on a variety of modalities including IFS, narrative therapy, strengths-based, and somatic/ body work. My style is relational, warm, and easy going. I believe healing happens within the context of authentic and supportive relationship. I aim to make our time together filled with curiosity and compassion. I welcome (and highly value!) the incorporation of any cultural or spiritual identity you deem important. I have both personal and professional experience with a variety of cultural backgrounds, and I am bilingual English/ Spanish. Hi! I’m Kimberly Carlin, LPC, and I work with women over 18 who want support navigating the ups and downs of life. Between work, relationships, family responsibilities, and personal growth, it’s normal to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to cope. I help women work through: * Anxiety, stress, and burnout * Relationship challenges and setting boundaries * Trauma or emotional abuse * Grief or major life transitions * Body image and disordered eating * Pressure to be “perfect” or meet high expectations * Life transitions such as parenting, career changes, or caregiving responsibilities Here’s what therapy with me looks like: CBT: Helps you spot unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier ones. ACT: Teaches you to accept feelings and focus on what matters most. Somatic Therapy: Uses your body to release stored stress, tension, and anxiety. IFS (Internal Family Systems): Helps you explore different parts of yourself and understand conflicting thoughts, emotions, or behaviors. Inner Child Work: Helps you understand how past experiences shape your feelings today. EMDR: A specialized approach that helps painful memories feel less overwhelming. Christian Counseling and Prayer (optional): For women who desire, therapy can integrate Biblical principles, prayer, and exploring God’s perspective of who you are to guide healing, self-worth, and decision-making. I provide online therapy and am licensed in multiple states, so you can continue care even if you travel, work remotely or move. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood, gain clarity, and build tools to navigate life with more confidence, self-compassion, and faith-based guidance if desired. Whether you’re feeling stressed, struggling with relationships, wanting to process trauma, or navigating major life transitions, I’m here to support you. Hi! My name is Emma and I’m a white, queer, cis femme millennial therapist. I know that’s a lot of descriptors, but social identity is core to my therapy practice. I believe that our social identities, along with our personal histories and relationships, shape our experience of the world. I’m a relational psychotherapist, which means I’m interested in your relationships and how they shape your life. This also means that our therapeutic relationship is the main tool for your growth and healing. When you feel heard and validated, it gives you the foundation to build healthy relationships with yourself and others. I’m not the kind of therapist who sits back and scribbles on a notepad. I believe that you’re the expert of your life and I’m here to support you—to hold the map, flashlight, and the bag of snacks. In my pre-therapist former life, I was a teaching artist, workshop facilitator, and nonprofit program coordinator. My academic journey focused on intersectional queer and feminist theory, history, and literature. I’ve also been active in organizing around racial and economic issues in my communities. I’m kink positive, fat positive, and pleasure positive. I affirm poly and queer identities. I believe white supremacy and internalized capitalism dehumanize us, and therapy is a space to name, process, and grieve these impacts. I might be the right therapist for you if: - you have anxiety and/or depression -you identify as LGBTQ or navigating questions around these identities -you struggle in relationships with family, friends, or partners, particularly around boundaries -you have experienced trauma -you navigate challenges around body image and self-esteem I also offer a free video consultation to see if we’re the right fit. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to take the next step!

I work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions, and relationship issues. I understand how trauma, childhood attachment, family of origin dynamics, and harm within our social/cultural/political systems underly many of these struggles. And I know how these painful experiences can disconnect you from yourself, your loved ones, and the joys of life. Together, we will explore the patterns that keep you stuck, understand their roots, and learn new ways of navigating life's challenges. Our work will help you restore a sense of agency and reconnection to your authentic, grounded Self that's innate to us all. My approach is relational, collaborative, and attachment-based. I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR and integrate these models for powerful trauma processing and self-exploration. When many people begin therapy, they don't know where to start. That is totally normal and no one I see needs to have all the answers right now. The people I work with often are going through a tough transition, experiencing stress at school, struggling with feelings of anxiety or depression, or they may have had something really distressing happen to them. Often, they may be noticing patterns of avoidance, procrastination, and self-shaming. Sometimes they're also experiencing stress in their relationships. Whatever is happening, I honor how challenging the process of reaching out for support can be, and I am here to help by working together with those who come to my practice. I specialize in attachment based EMDR therapy, which is incredibly useful for addressing distressing events (in the past or present); chronic stress, severe anxiety, and feeling like you are "stuck" on an issue that just doesn't seem to go away. It can also help resolve old wounds that are impacting current relationships. I'm here to help make the process of beginning therapy easier and help create a sense of safety by collaborating with you to address your needs. I also respect that paying for therapy can be complicated. To help, I offer a service where I can submit billing info to a service that files documentation with your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursements. If eligible, you may be able to receive a portion of your money back for therapy, making payment easier. I am also able to check to see if you're eligible for reimbursement. If you are a student in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Florida, the next step is to email or call me today. I look forward to connecting!
Do emotions hit you like a tidal wave, or are you often stuck between feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough”? Maybe you’re struggling to understand who you are or feel numb and disconnected from the world around you. Despite your best attempts at supporting yourself, are you still feeling stuck, anxious, and lonely? I can help you move towards a more peaceful and fulfilling life. As a therapist, I aim to help you understand your emotional patterns, strengthen your relationships, and feel more anchored in yourself. I work best with people who are seeking a cohesive sense of self, especially those who experience intense emotions, identity challenges, and the impacts of trauma. Much of my clinical experience has been working with college aged individuals. I have an affinity for working with neurodivergent individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My primary orientation is psychodynamic therapy. I also utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and hold advanced training in the Flash Technique. My clinical interests include codependency, C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, body image, and disordered eating. I am Poly/Kink affirming and my approach aligns with the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES). In our sessions, we will explore how early experiences and relationships have shaped how you see yourself and others. I believe that true healing happens in the context of a safe and authentic relationship with a shared sense of purpose. My approach is collaborative, open, and direct. Together we’ll create a space where you can learn to unmask, explore, grow, and connect with your true self.
The Therapy Gal was created to destigmatize and normalize mental health and therapy. We have a lighthearted approach to describing therapy, and a more thoughtful style in how we approach each individual client. As systemically trained therapists – meaning we take your system into consideration (i.e. your caregivers, siblings, school, friends, etc.) – we can better assess what makes you you, and what has affected you thus far. Our goal is to support you through becoming the best version of yourself, and to help you become well-equipped with various coping strategies that will get you through these tough transitional periods.
I believe that we all have had experiences that shape our sense of the world and impact our relationships with others. My approach to therapy involves exploring how past experiences impact the present and helping my clients use those insights to make active, positive, and healthy changes around their sense of self and in their relationships. In the years I've been providing therapy, I have maintained a generalist practice, working with individuals facing a range of challenges. My areas of speciality are in working with women in life transitions, working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, and working with individuals experiencing issues around sexuality and relationship functioning. I am a sex-positive therapist with an open and accepting worldview about the infinite range of human sexual desire and expression. Using techniques from narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, as well as more directive approaches, I will work with you in creating a therapy experience that is completely individualized. My understanding is that no two people are alike, and, therefore, therapy is a uniquely co-created experience.
